There was no greater champion of the Starfish Club than Mauricio de Souza (Mori) who passed away at the height of Covid on Good Friday 2021,  from a long illness that he had determinedly kept at bay with his trademark indefatigable zest for life. Positive to the end, Mori defied and outlived all expectations.

We loved Mori at the Starfish, having first met him at the legendary Bronte cafe that he started with his partner Fiona Baxter.

We miss Mori and are now taking the opportunity to acknowledge him with a program of music celebrating his Brazilian roots and his general love of good music.

We have put together a line up of fantastic musicians  - Vocalists Tiago de Lucca, Virna Sanzone and Magdelena Mira will be joined by Miro Bukovsky on trumpet and James Greening on trombone, along with Marcello Maio on keys, Fabian Hevia on percussion, Jonathan Zwartz on double bass and Hamish Stuart on drums and percussion.

For our last Starfish Concert of 2023 we present a 'very Mori Christmas' featuring songs from Brazil, to do him proud.

Doors at 6pm with food available then, music starts at 7pm.

The Starfish Kitchen will be open - We can't even attempt to make his famous chicken pies but Wendy will have her nearly famous green chicken curry on the menu.

Come and join us as we give Mori's memory a blast of good music.
